Welcome to our community.

The COVID-19 pandemic spotlighted the inadequate access to food and hygiene products that many refugee and immigrant communities face. Refugees and immigrants are particularly vulnerable populations during these times, as they often have fewer resources and social capital for support.

Born out of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Medical students United for Neighbors across America “MUNA” Box Project aims to provide refugee and immigrant communities in Nebraska cities and towns with supplemental staple foods and health necessities that may help bridge a gap of insecurity for these families.

While this organization was founded with the idea to provide food resources during a time of need, The MUNA Box Project quickly grew to symbolize something more than just food security - it symbolizes building a strong community through the union of public health and service to and for others. As a group of motivated medical students, our mission is to engage with our community in ways that emphasize holistic wellness: focusing on healthcare, education, environmental health, and creative partnerships with members of our community.

We hope that you will support our goal of standing behind our community’s most vulnerable communities through service and community engagement. It is only with your help that we can create an even stronger Nebraska.
